Profession: Call Center Director |
| What is your general satisfaction level?: | 4 (on a scale of 1 to 10) |
|
Did this profession meet your expectations: | No |
| If you could "do it all over again", would you have chosen this profession?: | No |
| Any Pros: | If you perform well it is financially rewarding. It is also a very dynamic business with a big focus on results. |
| Any Cons: | To move up in the organization you typically have to relocat A LOT. I have relocated 5 times in 14 years, which is below the norm. There is also the constant ramp up and ramp down of staff based on call volumes and also the constant threat of consolidations and shipping your job overseas to cheaper labor. Finally dealing with a Credit Card company that abuses customers with excessive late fees and finance charges. |
| Any Advice: | Be prepared to spend most of your time hiring new collection reps. The average turnover for a call center is 50%. Also be prepared to relocate to another state every 5-6 years or change companies often if you want to move up. |
